If I was asked to recommend one book for anyone involved in high-speed digital design, this would be it.

The book covers many of intricacies of digital design from a board-level perspective in a clear and enjoyable way. Howard Johnson is a regular contributor to electronics magazines and his breadth of knowledge in the area is tremendous. The book is almost better described as an "analog book for digital designers". At these speeds, the boundary between what is "digital" and what is "analog" is not clear-cut so the book is there to help you navigate this boundary. The examples are clear and the book is practical with examples that are readily applicable to every day problems one faces in design. There is now a "sequel" to this book that expands into some more advanced topics not covered here as technology keeps on moving forward, so you are encouraged to look at that review as well. But this book will always be a valuable addition to an Electronic Engineer's collection.
