Having spent a significant portion of my professional career in the field of communications, information transfer has always been a topic near and dear to my heart.
For a very thorough and historical perspective on the topic, this book is hard to beat. The author, James Gleick, is know to do extensive research for his books and it shows in this text. It's a fascinating trip, from the rudimentary calculating machines of Babbage, the telegraph, the theoretical foundations of Claude Shannon and culmination with the Internet and search engines, this book has it all. Highly Recommended.
